IBM

IBM has announced the latest enhancements to Tivoli Storage Manager. Version 6.1 is available today and incorporates a new backend database, DB2. Although this is a major change to the software, it is possible to migrate from prior versions of TSM to the new 6.
Migration can be accomplished through careful planning and performing a Migration Assessment on your current environment. Our senior TSM Consultants are prepared to help you in making the transition from 5.x to 6.1. Having attended extensive training sessions from IBM, they will be able to help you through the process.
The first step is conducting a TSM Migration Assessment to evaluate your current backup environment. From there we determine the amount of time needed as well as put together a plan to ensure that your migration goes smoothly.
Our Migration Assessment process takes a look at your current TSM configuration. The time needed for migrating your data will be determined by the size of your environment, including your storage devices and the amount of data you currently backup.
Following the assessment, we will meet with you and provide you with a document detailing a robust migration strategy to TSM 6.
Call your Evolving Solutions Account Executive to schedule time with our Professional Service Department for a Migration Assessment to begin migrating to TSM 6 today.
