Server virtualization solutions enable server and storage components to be mapped through a Storage Area Network where information can be accessed through redundant network connections allowing for access to data across a variety of fibre channel or iSCSI connections.
Backup copies of data files are stored on a virtual tape library (VTL). Through backup policies established to meet the corporate goals, data storage consolidation is managed with Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and protected using Tivoli Access Manager. Backup files are migrated from the VTL onto tape as the information ages and is accessed less frequently. TSM manages the data based on corporate compliance policies.
